Cultivating the Next Generation of Culinary Professionals at Resorts World Genting

8 September - As part of our ongoing commitment to nurturing future talent, Resorts World Genting was honoured to host a group of 29 culinary students and 7 facilitators from Kolej Vokasional Puteri Temerloh for an enriching study visit to our Centralised Kitchen and various food and beverage (F&B) outlets across the resort.
This initiative, carried out under the “Genting Bersama Malaysia” programme, reflects our dedication to empowering Malaysia’s youth through hands-on learning and career development opportunities. By opening our doors to vocational students, we aim to:
• Provide immersive, real-world experiences in a dynamic and professional culinary environment
• Create pathways for internships, structured training, and long-term careers in the hospitality and F&B sectors
• Strengthen our talent pipeline by inspiring and equipping the next generation of chefs, bakers, and hospitality professionals
Throughout the visit, students engaged in a comprehensive learning journey that showcased the breadth and depth of Resorts World Genting’s culinary operations. Highlights included practical training in our bakery kitchen, an in-depth look at large-scale banquet logistics at the Genting International Convention Centre (GICC), guided tours of our diverse F&B outlets, and interactive career sharing sessions with our experienced team members.
This initiative not only bridges the gap between classroom learning and industry practice, but also reinforces our role in supporting Malaysia’s vocational education landscape. By offering students direct exposure to high-performance culinary environments, we help cultivate the skills, confidence, and ambition needed to thrive in the competitive hospitality industry.

Empowering Young Minds at the ‘Karnival Prasekolahku Berhak Hebat’ 2025

11 September - Cheringin Resort in Janda Baik came alive with the vibrant energy, laughter, and creativity of 173 preschoolers from across Pahang, as the state-level Karnival Prasekolahku ‘Berhak Hebat’ 2025 unfolded in full colour. Organised under the Pahang Education Transformation Initiative and proudly supported by the Genting Bersama Malaysia corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, the event celebrated the boundless potential of Malaysia’s youngest learners.
The carnival served as a dynamic platform for children to express themselves through a wide array of activities blending tradition, technology, and imagination. From engaging puppet shows and captivating traditional dance performances to Smart Digital challenges and a lively costume parade, every moment was designed to inspire creativity, build self-confidence, and encourage joyful learning.
Resorts World Genting was honoured to contribute to the success of the event by sponsoring food, beverages, prizes, and a special highlight—the “My Dream Holiday” colouring contest. This activity invited preschoolers to explore their imaginations and share their dreams through art, reinforcing the importance of nurturing aspirations from an early age.

Celebrating Young Malaysian Creativity at SK Sri Layang

2 July 2025 - From 18 June to 2 July 2025, the CEO Art Challenge was successfully held at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Layang, Gohtong Jaya. Organised under the Genting Bersama Malaysia CSR initiative, the programme was conducted in collaboration with the Pahang State Education Department (JPN Pahang), Bentong District Education Office (PPD Bentong), and the school’s administration.

More than 170 students, from preschool to Primary 6, participated in the challenge, achieving an impressive 99% participation rate. Each student illustrated their vision of a dream family holiday at Resorts World Genting through expressive and colourful artworks. These will be exhibited at the resort, giving the young artists a national stage to showcase their imagination and pride.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Tourism Professionals

26 June 2025- Resorts World Genting had the honour of hosting 21 students and four lecturers from UNITAR College Kuantan, enrolled in the Diploma in Tourism Management programme, for an insightful industrial visit.

The students’ itinerary included a series of immersive learning experiences, including:

• A comprehensive tour of Resorts World Awana and Genting Nature Adventure
• A scenic cable car ride from Awana SkyCentral to SkyAvenue
• Operational insights at the Genting International Convention Centre (GICC)
• An exclusive behind-the-scenes session with the Genting SkyWorlds Learning & Development team, complemented by a guided tour of the Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park
• A career-sharing session conducted by the Human Resources team, along with a hotel room tour at Crockfords Hotel

In Honour of His Majesty King Charles III’s 77th Birthday – A Night of British Charm and Diplomacy

19 June 2025 - Genting Malaysia Berhad was honoured to support the British High Commission in Malaysia at the King’s Birthday Party 2025, held at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

As one of the event sponsors, the Group was proud to contribute to the celebration marking the 77th birthday of His Majesty King Charles III and the longstanding diplomatic ties between the United Kingdom and Malaysia. The company is deeply grateful for the continued invitation to participate in this esteemed annual occasion.

In line with the event’s enchanting Great British Fantasia theme, inspired by classic British literature. A specially curated culinary experience was presented by two iconic UK-born brands under Genting’s hospitality portfolio – Burger & Lobster and Harry Ramsden’s.

Burger & Lobster delighted guests with its signature Lobster Roll, featuring chilled lobster meat dressed in lemon mayo and fresh chives, served in a toasted brioche roll and paired with a rich lemon and garlic butter sauce.

Harry Ramsden’s brought a quintessential taste of the British seaside, serving up its celebrated fish and chips; crispy battered fish fillet and golden fries, elegantly adapted for the evening’s refined diplomatic setting.

A Night to Remember for Malaysia’s Everyday Heroes

17 May 2025 - Resorts World Genting paid tribute to Malaysia’s dedicated teachers, firefighters, and rescue personnel through a special concert featuring legendary rock queen Ella (Ella Aminuddin) at the Arena of Stars.

Held in conjunction with Teachers’ Day and International Firefighters’ Day, complimentary tickets to Ella’s 30th Anniversary Concert were distributed as a gesture of appreciation for their invaluable contributions in shaping lives and safeguarding communities.

Spencer Lee, Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Public Relations, expressed that the occasion served to commemorate two significant days in May by offering frontliners a night of nostalgia. It was further hoped that the event provided a fun and memorable experience for them and their families.

The initiative falls under the umbrella of Genting Bersama Malaysia, the Group’s broader mission to give back to society through purposeful community outreach and CSR programmes. Resorts World Genting Celebrates Earth Hour 2025 at 6,000ft Above Sea Level

22 March 2025 – Resorts World Genting joined millions globally in the Earth Hour movement by switching off non-essential lights for one hour, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM. Taking place at 6,000ft above sea level, this year's participation was highlighted as "The Highest Lights-Off in Malaysia".

Our department coordinated the event across all RWG properties, including SkyAvenue, Resorts World Awana, Langkawi and Kijal. The teams worked together to ensure smooth execution, capturing before-and-after photos and videos of the lights-off transformation. Each property also participated by creating their own unique Earth Hour candlelight displays, including artistic interpretations of "Earth Hour" and "60", adding a personal touch to the global initiative.

This global initiative underscored Resorts World Genting's commitment to sustainability and environmental awareness, with staff coming together to commemorate the event in their own meaningful ways.

Celebrating Malaysia’s Culinary Heritage: Genting Culinary Classic 2025 in Collaboration with HAPA & the Tourist Privilege Program

14 March 2025 – Resorts World Genting collaborated with the Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards (HAPA), in association with Tourism Malaysia to launch the Genting Culinary Classic 2025, a competition that celebrates Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage while providing a platform for emerging and professional chefs. The initiative reflects Resorts World

Genting’s continued commitment to cultural preservation and talent development in the F&B industry.
The competition will see 20 finalists compete, with the grand prize winner receiving RM25,000 and the opportunity to feature their dish in Resorts World Genting’s signature restaurants. A panel of renowned chefs and food critics will judge the competition, focusing on innovative interpretations of Malaysian cuisine.

In addition, Resorts World Genting introduced the Tourist Privilege Programme, offering exclusive perks and discounts for international visitors in support of Visit Malaysia 2026. Guests can present their passport at the SkyAvenue Info Counter (Level 1) to receive a Welcome Kit with dining, retail, and attraction benefits. This programme runs until 31 December 2025.

Honouring Genting Founder’s Day Through Compassion and Community Action

28 February 2025 – Resorts World Genting celebrated Genting Founder’s Day, honouring the legacy of Tan Sri Dato' Seri (Dr) Lim Goh Tong. Marking Resorts World Genting’s 60th anniversary, the occasion was not just about reflection but also meaningful action.

The day began with a tribute ceremony at Chin Swee Caves Temple, where Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, Executive Chairman of Genting Group and family, along with Genting Group directors, senior management, and alumni members gathered to pay respects. The event was a solemn yet inspiring reminder of the values Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong championed – Hard Work, Honesty, Harmony, Loyalty, and Compassion. A vegetarian lunch followed, symbolizing unity and gratitude among those who continue to carry forward his vision.

Beyond remembrance, Resorts World Genting chose to honour Genting Founder’s Day through action, extending its commitment to community welfare by partnering with Kechara Soup Kitchen. Led by Spencer Lee, Executive VP of Sales, Marketing & Public Relations, Resorts World Genting volunteers joined Kechara Soup Kitchen in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur, distributing 190 food packs to those in need. GENM Hosts Heart-warming Christmas Celebration for the Blind and Visually Impaired from the Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB)

12 December 2024 – Resorts World Genting (RWG), in collaboration with Genting Green Generation (G3), hosted a heartwarming Christmas celebration at Resorts World Awana (RWA) for 23 blind and visually impaired individuals from the Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB). As part of G3’s mission to promote community engagement and inclusivity, the event offered participants a festive day filled with sensory-rich activities and joyful moments.

The day began with a guided tour of Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park, where MAB participants were paired with G3 volunteers and Theme Park Ambassadors. Equipped with earpieces for audio guidance, guests enjoyed rides like the Epic Hummingbird Flyers and Sid’s Rock ‘N’ Slide, showcasing RWG’s commitment to accessible experiences. The celebration continued with a Christmas luncheon at Dewan Lanai, featuring carols, a trumpet performance, and appearances by Mr. and Mrs. Claus and Benny the Sun Bear.

Guests also enjoyed a tactile guessing game and a lucky draw featuring L’Occitane gift boxes, a nod to the brand’s support for blindness-related causes. The event concluded with mini cakes as sweet mementos. This celebration reflects GENM’s continued dedication to inclusivity, community spirit, and creating meaningful experiences for all.

GENM Supports Inmates Rehabilitation Program

20 November 2024– GENM collaborated with Kajang Women’s Prison for a special sale event at Wisma Genting, featuring a variety of homemade treats prepared by the prison inmates. The range of products, including frozen curry puffs, pau kacang merah, cucur badak, and other delicious local delicacies, were sold by the prison staff as part of a community initiative.

Over the course of two days, the sale attracted a strong turnout, with the proceeds contributing to the inmates' rehabilitation program at Kajang Women’s Prison. Such initiative reinforces GENM's ongoing commitment to community engagement and corporate social responsibility

Genting Malaysia Berhad Supports the Bursa Bull Charge Charity Run 2024

26 October 2024 – Genting Malaysia Berhad (GENM) proudly participated in the annual Bursa Bull Charge Charity Run, hosted by Bursa Malaysia. This year’s event introduced an exciting new twist as the first-ever night run, and GENM’s involvement underscores its commitment to environmental sustainability and climate action. The event provided a meaningful platform for GENM to promote zero-waste practices and support marginalized communities, furthering its efforts to make a positive social and environmental impact.

GENM was represented in the event by Mr. James Koh, Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs, who took part in the 1.6 km CEO Dash. Additionally, four dedicated GENM team members – Ms. Nurul Atikah, Mr. Nujumuddin, Mr. Muhammad Alif, and Mr. Aliff Badaruddin – competed in the 5 km Individual Run, embodying GENM’s commitment to fitness, community support, and sustainable development.

GENM Hosted Heartwarming Deepavali Celebration for Pusat Jagaan Sivananda Children

11 October 2024 – In conjunction with Deepavali, Genting Malaysia Berhad (GENM) and Genting Green Generation (G3) hosted a celebration at Resorts World Awana for children from Pusat Jagaan Sivananda Batu Caves and Kuala Kubu Bharu.
The day began with a Rangoli art activity, where the children created colorful mini Rangoli patterns guided by the G3 volunteers. Together, they created a beautiful Kolam and G3 logo centerpiece from coloured powders and petals, while Vilakku lamps added a festive glow to the venue.
Present at the event were YB Puan Pang Sock Tao, ADUN Kuala Kubu Bharu and Dato’ Sri Kay Atisha, Vice President of Corporate Relations and Communications, who joined the children in a Vilakku lighting ceremony, symbolizing hope and joy. After a group photo with the Kolam, the children enjoyed a sumptuous buffet dinner at Dewan Wawasan 5, Resorts World Awana.
The celebration concluded with the distribution of gifts, which included presents from Resorts World Awana and traditional Deepavali sweets from the Corporate Communications team, bringing joy to the children and highlighting the importance of giving back to the community. For GENM and G3, it was a heart-warming celebration of kindness and connection.

Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Gohtong Jaya Fire and Rescue Station and Quarters, Pahang

3 October 2024 – The groundbreaking ceremony of the Gohtong Jaya Fire and Rescue Station and Quarters, Pahang was held at Genting Xintiandi Sales Gallery, Genting Highlands. Genting Malaysia Berhad is proud to be part of this important initiative which will positively impact the Genting Highlands community and its neighbouring areas. The event was officiated by YB Tuan Nga Kor Ming – Housing and Local Government Minister and attended by YBhg. Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay – Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive GENM, Dato’ Sri Lee Choong Yan - Group President and Executive Director, Dato’ Indera Lim Keong Hui – Deputy Chief Executive and Executive Director GENM, Datuk Wira M Noor Azman bin Taib - Secretary General of Housing and Local Government and Dato’ Ts. Nor Hisham bin Mohammad - Director General of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department.

Genting Malaysia Berhad has remained dedicated to serving as a strategic partner to the government and the local community. The construction of this Fire and Rescue Station not only delivers critical safety infrastructure but also underscores our commitment to sustainable development in this area. The expansion of social infrastructure, housing, public amenities, and tourism facilities—including hotels, theme parks, and commercial centers—inevitably increases the fire safety risk in this area. The construction of this new fire station will ensure a quicker and more effective response in the event of fire or other emergencies.

This initiative is part of our ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts aimed at making a positive impact to the community. YB Tn. Nga Kor Ming said the project was approved in 2021, under the 12th Malaysia Plan is estimated to cost RM68.3 million, with the government allocating RM39 million and the remaining to be borne by GENM under our CSR initiative. The station will be equipped with 40 units of staff quarters, a multipurpose hall and a prayer hall is expected to take 24 months to complete. This initiative will not only provide a vital infrastructure but more importantly, it symbolizes GENM's commitment to sustainable development in the Gohtong Jaya area.

GENM Backs 12th Sultan of Johor Cup with RM100,000 Contribution

26 September 2024 – Genting Malaysia Berhad contributed RM100,000 to support the Sultan of Johor Cup, an annual international U-21 men’s field hockey tournament organised by the Johor Hockey Association. The tournament, affiliated with the Malaysian Hockey Association and sanctioned by the International Hockey Federation, aims to promote the sport of hockey, nurture emerging talent, and strengthen international relations.
The official cheque presentation was held at the Kingfisher Frazer Hotel, Johor Bharu. Dato’ Sri Kay Atisha, Vice President of Corporate Relations and Communications, handed the cheque to YB Tuan Mohd Hairi bin Mad Shah, Johor State EXCO for Youth, Sports, Entrepreneur Development, and Cooperatives.
The Sultan of Johor Cup 2024 took place from 19 to 26 October 2024 in Johor Bahru, in conjunction with the birthday celebration of DYMM Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar. This year’s tournament featured six participating nations: Australia, India, Great Britain, Japan, China, and Malaysia.

19 September 2024 – Genting Malaysia Berhad announced its support for the Malaysia International Tourism (MIT) Expo Pahang 2024 by contributing RM100,000 as the main sponsor. The sponsorship underscores the company’s commitment to promoting Malaysia as a premier global travel destination while bolstering the nation’s tourism industry.

At a press conference held at the Ramada Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Dato’ Sri Kay Atisha Parasuraman, Vice President of Corporate Relations and Communications at Genting Malaysia Berhad, presented the mock cheque to YB Leong Yu Man, Pahang State EXCO for Unity, Tourism, and Culture. This sponsorship reflects our commitment to fostering growth within the tourism sector and our belief in the potential of MIT Pahang to bring industry leaders together, drive innovation, and create new opportunities.

MIT Pahang 2024 will take place from 8-10 October 2024 at the Sultan Ahmad Shah International Convention Centre in Kuantan, Pahang. It is the first government-organized business-to-business (B2B) tourism expo in Malaysia, designed to bring together key players from ASEAN and global tourism markets for knowledge exchange, networking, and the promotion of sustainable tourism practices. This expo provides an essential platform for tourism industry experts and players to share their expertise and showcase innovative solutions for sustainable tourism.

24 August 2024 – Genting Malaysia Berhad (GENM) proudly continues its support for the Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) Foundation with a donation of RM40,000. This contribution aims to provide financial assistance to underprivileged heart patients, helping them cover essential treatment and surgery costs at IJN. Through this ongoing partnership, GENM reaffirms its commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of those in need and supporting accessible healthcare for all.

GENM Celebrates Merdeka with BRDB Rotary Children’s Residence Home

17 August 2024 – GENM hosted the “Ini Jiwa Kita” Merdeka Fashion Show at Malay Village, First World Plaza, uniting children from the BRDB Rotary Children’s Residence (BRCR) Home in a vibrant Merdeka celebration. BRCR Home is a multiracial home caring for 65 underprivileged children, providing special attention to the children’s character development, health matters and lifelong learning.
The event highlight was the children’s display of traditional attire adorned with creative, Merdeka-themed decorations. G3 volunteers joined the children to add unique embellishments, infusing each outfit with patriotic spirit and fostering a sense of unity, embodying the spirit of Merdeka.
Present at the event were Datuk Chan Kam Fatt, Chairman of BRDB Rotary Children’s Residence Home; Mr. Peter Dewey Foster, Executive VP of Leisure, Hospitality, and Lifestyle, and Dato’ Sri Kay Atisha, Vice President of Corporate Relations and Communications.

GENM Takes Part in the British High Commission and U.S Embassy Celebrations – June 2024

June was a vibrant month filled with embassy events. GENM had the privilege of participating in the British High Commission and the U.S. Embassy celebrations. The King’s Birthday Party event organized by the British High Commission was held on 20 June 2024 at the Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Approximately 900 guests attended the event, including royalty, ambassadors, ministers, business leaders, government officials from various ministries, non-governmental organizations, and youth representatives. The Minister in attendance for this event was YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmed, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability.

GENM contributed to the King’s Birthday Party by offering guests Harry Ramsden's fish and chips and Burger & Lobster's mini lobster rolls. The F&B team from RWG meticulously prepared these dishes fresh on-site. These selections were chosen for their origin in the United Kingdom, aligning perfectly with the theme of the British High Commission's celebration. Notably, RWG had previously participated in the King’s Birthday Party and King’s Coronation in 2023, further highlighting our ongoing commitment to supporting diplomatic and cultural events of significance.

In the same month, the U.S. Embassy hosted a reception on 10 June 2024 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Kuala Lumpur, commemorating the country's 248th anniversary of independence. The event was attended by approximately 1,000 guests, including diplomats, representatives of the Malaysian government, local MPs, as well as representatives from U.S. and Malaysian companies. YBhg. Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay was also present at the reception. As in previous years, GENM reaffirms its commitment to supporting the U.S. Embassy in enhancing diplomatic ties, fostering cooperation, and promoting international collaboration between the two nations.

GENM’s Support for Local Farmers in Pahang

In a heartfelt commitment to support local communities in Pahang, GENM embarked on a meaningful visit to local farms across Bentong, Lebu, Lanchang and Karak. This initiative, a core part of our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) activities, highlights our dedication to supporting local communities in Pahang by sourcing vegetables directly from local farmers. The visit included GEMN representatives from the Purchasing team of Group Centralised Procurement, the Food Safety team from F&B General Management, the Executive Sous Chef from New Centralized Production - Kitchen, and representatives from Corporate Communications & PR.
All four farms revealed a tapestry of innovative farming techniques and crop diversity. We engaged in discussions with farmers, evaluating their capacity to supply vegetables year-round and ensuring their methods met GENM’s rigorous standards. Conversations centered around price validity, supply consistency, and adherence to our company specifications, providing valuable insights into operational feasibility and quality assurance.
This visit reinforces GENM’s commitment to supporting the local agricultural community. Our interactions with the farmers were not just business-oriented but deeply personal. Genting Green Generation (G3) Recruitment Drive 2024: Expanding our G3 Community

On 30 May 2024, GENM’s employee volunteer programme – Genting Green Generation (G3) held a recruitment drive at the B2 Common Ground Cafe, Resorts World Genting. The event saw an impressive turnout, with 41 employees registering to become part of our volunteer programme. This significant interest resulted in a 30% increase in our volunteer base, raising the membership from 152 to 193 members.
The G3 booth was lively with engaging activities, including banners and a projector showcasing past G3 initiatives. The event facilitated meaningful conversations about G3’s ongoing projects and the numerous benefits of becoming a G3 volunteer. G3 plans to capitalize on this momentum by organizing more environmental and community engagement activities, encouraging active participation from new volunteers.
The G3 Recruitment Drive has successfully expanded our community and reinforce our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. With the addition of 41 new volunteers, Genting Green Generation (G3) is more energized than ever to pursue our green initiatives and drive positive change among the community.

RWG’s Support for Bentong Prison Inmates at Employee Night Market and Sales Bazaar

From 31 March to 3 April 2024, Bentong Prison’s Vocational and Industry Unit participated in Resorts World Genting’s Employee Night Market and Sales Bazaar, organised by the HR Employee Services department.
The Vocational and Industry Unit featured a diverse selection of products made by prison inmates including Hari Raya cookies, frozen kuih, handmade crafts and fashion accessories. This initiative not only supported the rehabilitation efforts of Bentong Prison, but also provided a valuable platform for the inmates to display their products.
This initiative is part of Resorts World Genting's ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility, aiming to foster community integration and support for Bentong Prison’s rehabilitation efforts.

GENM hosts Buka Puasa for Rumah Titian Kaseh Children

22 March 2024 – GENM hosted 25 underprivileged children from Rumah Titian Kaseh for a buka puasa event at Resorts World Awana. The event integrated a unique blend of cultural observance with sustainability during Ramadan and Earth Hour.

The activities led by G3 volunteers, included a Nature Walk at Awana Trail, seed planting at Herb Garden, and an Art Harmony session to create a mural featuring the G3 logo and Earth Hour symbol. Tea light candles were lit, illuminating the phrase “Earth Hour” to symbolize our commitment in energy conservation and environmental sustainability.

The evening concluded with a buka puasa buffet at Jom Makan. The children were also presented with duit raya and gifts from Dato’ Sri Kay Atisha Parasuraman, Vice President of Corporate Communication and Public Relations, and Mr. Khew Choon Teck, Vice President of Resorts World Awana.

GENM Supports Inmates Rehabilitation Program

19 to 21 March 2024 – GENM collaborated with Kajang Women’s Prison for a Raya Cookies Sale at Wisma Genting as part of its community project. The homemade kuih raya were prepared by the prison inmates and sold by the prison staff.

Over the course of three days, the sale attracted a commendable turnout, collecting a total of RM3022.20. The funds collected aids the inmates’ rehabilitation program at Kajang Women’s Prison. Such initiative reinforces GENM's ongoing commitment to community engagement and corporate social responsibility.

Nurturing Talent: Kolej Vokasional Puteri’s Visit to GENM

5 March 2024 – GENM welcomed 14 students and 3 lecturers from Kolej Vokasional Puteri, Temerloh for an industrial visit. The students received a briefing and tour at the Centralised Kitchen, followed by hands-on experience at the Bakery Kitchen.

The visit included Career Sharing Presentation by the HR team, offering valuable insights to potential internships and career opportunities within the organization. The students explored into various facets of GENM’s culinary world, with restaurants such as Harry Ramsden and Wolfgang’s. It was an enjoyable time for Kolej Vokasional Puteri students as they gained valuable hands-on experience and insights into GENM’s world of culinary arts and resort operations.

GENM hosts Ci Hang-Chempaka Home for CNY Celebration

29 January 2024 – Genting Malaysia (GENM) organized an early Chinese New Year celebration for 36 senior citizens from Ci Hang-Chempaka Home, treating them to a memorable day at Resorts World Genting.

The guests paid homage to the late Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong at Chin Swee Caves Temple, enjoyed a sumptuous spread of Chinese New Year delights, and were entertained by the talented performers from Genting SkyWorlds. Before concluding the visit, YBhg Dato’ Sri Kay, Vice President of Corporate Communications and Public Relations, distributed ang pow, mandarin oranges, and Chinese calligraphy well wishes as a symbol of blessings to the senior citizens.

GENM supports IJN Foundation

29 October 2023 – Genting Malaysia Berhad (GENM) supports Institut Jantung Negara Foundation (IJNF) with a RM200,000 contribution at their Fundraising Dinner. IJNF is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds to assist underprivileged heart patients who are unable to pay for their treatment or surgery costs at the IJN.

Fostering Future Hospitality Professionals: Montfort Boys Town Study Visits

November 2023 – GENM recently hosted 40 students from Montfort Boys Town's Bakery & Pastry and Hospitality Programs. These visits on October 18th, 25th, and November 1st provided practical insights into Centralized Kitchen operations, Banquet Management, bakery, housekeeping and F&B servicing. Our dedicated departments; Food & Beverages, GICC, Human Resources, Awana SkyWay, First World Hotel and Crockfords at Resorts World Genting played a crucial role in facilitating these visits. A Career Sharing Presentation by our HR team has also opened doors to potential internship and career opportunities within our organization.

Genting Green Generation (G3) Sorting Activity

October 2023 – GENM’s Genting Green Generation (G3) Programme recently organized a Sorting Activity as part of our commitment to uplifting communities and sustainability. The activity focused on categorizing clothes and items collected during our annual “Donate Your Clothes Campaign” to ensure high-quality donations for our future charity visits. With 20 G3 volunteers inspecting and sorting items, the volunteers also took a responsible approach to those that did not meet the donation criteria. We packed and labelled 50 kilograms of recyclables, sending them to a textile recycling facility, aligning with our dedication to minimizing waste and promoting sustainability.

The activity was also an educational platform, raising employee awareness about quality donations and diverting wastes from landfills. At GENM, we are committed to fostering a culture of sustainability and seeking ways to reduce our environmental footprint and create positive change in the community.

Genting Green Generation (G3) Turtle Conservation Programme

22 June 2023 – GENM’s Genting Green Generation (G3) volunteers embarked on an adventure to Resorts World Kijal to protect and preserve the endangered sea turtles and their habitats. Over the two days, the volunteers engaged in a range of activities - from baby turtle release to hands-on beach cleaning.
Throughout the programme, our volunteers gained a profound understanding of the interconnectedness of all life forms and the urgency to protect and preserve our mother nature. At GENM, we are proud to support such initiatives and take steps towards a more sustainable future. Our commitment to environmental sustainability drives us to continue championing meaningful initiatives like this, ensuring a thriving ecosystem for sea turtles and a healthier planet for all.

Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay Receives Prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from MATFA

13 June 2023 – Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, the Chairman of Genting Group, was recently honoured with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award by the Malaysian Association of Theme Park & Family Attractions (MATFA) at the Golden Horse Awards 2023, held on Sunday, 11 June 2023.
The MATFA Golden Horse Awards encourages positive competition, promotes excellence and highlights achievements attained by outstanding businesses for their roles and contributions to the theme park and family attractions industry and Malaysian economy.
The Lifetime Achievement Award by MATFA is the highest accolade bestowed upon an individual in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the industry, economy and nation. The award effectively acknowledges Tan Sri KT Lim’s legacy and underscores his remarkable accomplishments and profound impact on the industry.
Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park, which opened its doors in 2022, has also emerged as a major triumph of the evening. GENM’s Participation in Earth Hour 2023

25 March 2023 – Earth Hour is a global event that aims to raise awareness about climate change and encourage people to act towards a sustainable future. Like clockwork, switching the exterior and non-essential lights off across the properties of GENM is an annual green commitment that GENM resolutely supports since 2010.
Celebrating the Biggest Hour for Earth in 2023, GENM’s Genting Green Generation (G3) has also organized a soy candle-making workshop. 40 volunteers came together to learn about the benefits of using natural wax and also the significance of opting for sustainable and renewable resources in our daily life items. The handmade soy candles were arranged to outline the logos of Earth Hour and G3 to symbolize the G3’s long commitment to go beyond the hour in creating positive lasting impacts for the environment.

MoU Signing between YAKEB, Genting Malaysia Berhad and DHS Hospitality Academy

6 March 2023 – In order to provide a better and stable life for former athletes and their families, Yayasan Kebajikan Atlet Kebangsaan (YAKEB) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with two major organisations in the country, Genting Malaysia Berhad (GENM) and DHS Hospitality Academy.
The MoU was signed on 6th March 2023 at Bukit Kiara Sports Complex by Dato’ Noorul Ariffin Abdul Majeed – Chairman of YAKEB, Mr Lee Thiam Kit – Chief Operating Officer of GENM and Dr S. Sri Kumar – Founder Group Director of DHS Hospitality Academy. The MoU signing ceremony was witnessed by YB Hannah Yeoh – Minister of Youth and Sports.
This MoU will create career opportunities for former national athletes and their entire social circle as participants will be offered permanent jobs upon their completion of this hospitality career program, which includes a one-month theory classes and six-month job placement at Resorts World Genting.

Genting Green Generation (G3) Nature Hike

12 February 2023 - After two years of hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, GENM’s Genting Green Generation (G3) Volunteer Programme resumed its physical activities in 2023 with a challenging hike on Clearwater Way in Awana Bio Park.
31 G3 volunteers participated in the hike to explore and discover the biodiversity of the valley. The hike was an excellent and healthy reintroduction that incited the volunteers to connect with Mother Earth and appreciate the pristine nature surrounding Genting Highlands.

GENM Donates Asam Pedas and Rendang Betawi Pastes to Single Mothers and a Charity Home in Bentong

30 January 2023 – GENM donated 500 asam pedas and rendang betawi pastes to single mothers and a charity home in Bentong as part of their CSR effort to support the less fortunate community.
The pastes were presented at the Taklimat Scammer Tipu Alam Maya dan Kekuatan Wanita Abad Ini serta Majlis Penyerahan Pes Asam Pedas Dan Rendang Betawi oleh Resorts World Genting event in collaboration with PUSPANITA Bentong. It was held at Bentong Municipal Council and officiated by YB Young Syefura Othman, Member of Parliament for Bentong. GENM was represented by YBhg. Dato’ Sri Kay Atisha Parasuraman, Vice President of Corporate Communications and Public Relations. The women's empowerment event intends to raise awareness among women about the methods used by online scammers to defraud them.
In keeping with the theme of women's empowerment, GENM donated 450 pastes to nine single mothers chosen by PUSPANITA Bentong who run businesses in the food and beverage sector in Bentong. The pastes are expected to help them expand their businesses by adding a variety of food menu items. Apart from assisting single mothers, a charity home - Badan Amal Nur Zaharah - with residents ranging from age 6 to 22 also received a total of 50 pastes to be used in their daily food preparation to alleviate their living expenses.

GENM Supports Bentong Prison Inmates Rehabilitation Programme

7 January 2023 – GENM has been supporting Bentong Prison’s rehabilitation and Human Development Programmes indirectly since 2013.
One of the recent initiatives that GENM supported was its contribution through the purchase of the Asam Pedas and Rendang Betawi pastes inspired by Raja Permaisuri Agong’s cookbook - Air Tangan Tengku Ampuan Pahang. The preparation of the pastes involved five Bentong prison staff and more than 30 inmates.
MyPride under the Malaysian Prison Department sells the pastes and the proceeds go towards human development programmes for inmates. The programmes equip the inmates with various life skills in order for them to assimilate into society and live a normal life after their sentences are served. As part of GENM’s community programme, the 500 pastes purchased will be distributed to selected single mothers in Bentong.
Resorts World Genting chefs were instrumental in turning the recipes for Asam Pedas and Rendang Betawi into pastes, as well as providing packaging and lab testing advice to Bentong Prison during the early stages of the commercialisation of the two pastes.

GENM’s Genting Green Generation (G3) Volunteer Programme Back and Running

Recognizing the significance to embed sustainability into the foundation of our organisation, GENM took up the green responsibility by launching an employee programme – Genting Green Generation (G3) back in 2017. The ambition to foster a greener generation among employees is resolutely upheld as G3 sets out to organize various activities emphasized around environmental conservation and community building. Some meaningful past activities include Turtle Conservation Programme at Resorts World Kijal, Nature Trail Walk at Awana, G3 Textile Collection and Donation Drives and Providing Timely Aid to Pahang Flood Victims.
After two years of disruption in physical activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the G3 Programme has resumed through a two-day recruitment drive on 5th – 6th December 2022. The advocacy of the G3 Programme is made known and new volunteers are recruited for upcoming myriad of activities in 2023.

GENM Contributes Essential Items to Flood Victims in Pahang

GENM recently contributed various essential household items to assist the flood victims in Pahang. Among the essential items contributed by GENM were mattresses and divans, bedsheets, duvet inserts, blankets, pillows, pillowcases, toothbrushes and bath towels. The items were presented by YBhg Dato’ Sri Kay Atisha Parasuraman, Vice President – Corporate Communications and Public Relations, GENM to YH Dato' Mohd Zulkifli bin Hashim, Bentong District Officer and YH Dato' Hajah Aida Munira binti Abdul Rafar, President of Bentong Municipal Council at the Bentong Municipal Council Hall on 11 January 2022. The donated items will be channelled to the affected families across Pahang.

Helping the Flood Victims in Karak, Bentong

70 employees from Resorts World Genting (RWG) volunteered to clean the residential area of Taman Wijaya, Karak, Bentong on 27 and 28 December 2021. The volunteers assisted in cleaning up the roads and houses of the residents which were covered in thick mud due to the recent floods in Pahang. They also assisted in clearing large amounts of rubbish along the streets and dispose damaged furniture and household items. To speed up the cleaning process, RWG provided a backhoe, two garbage trucks and three water tankers. RWG also distributed food and drinking water to all the residents of Taman Wijaya. Among the volunteers were Mr Lee Thiam Kit, Head of Business Operations and Strategies and Dato’ Sri Kay Atisha Parasuraman, Vice President of Corporate Communications and Public Relations.

GENM Helps Pahang Flood Victims

GENM recently contributed various essential items to the flood victims in Pahang through Yayasan Al-Sultan Abdullah. Among the items donated were 100 blankets, 100 pillows, 100 pillow cases, 260 bedsheet linens, 2700 bar soaps and clothing.

GENM contributed PPE to the medical frontliners

GENM contributed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the medical frontliners in Bentong and Temerloh in support of Malaysia’s COVID-19 battle. GENM purchased non-woven materials and worked together with Bentong Prison inmates to cut and sew 3,500 sets of PPE including gowns as well as head and boot covers for the medical frontliners in Bentong and Temerloh. This initiative was done to help hospitals and government clinics in Pahang which are facing a shortage of ready-made PPE supply due to increased demand.

GENM organised a vegetable and flower planting session for students from Sekolah Kebangsaaan Sri Layang on 10th December. Our G3 Volunteers together with 33 students, aged between 5 to 11 years old, came and planted various types of plants and flowers as an effort to beautify their school and to learn about the importance of taking care of greens.

Bursa Bull Charge Charity Run 2018

GENM participated in the annual charity run organised by Bursa Malaysia on 27 September. Despite heavy downpour, GENM runners completed the run and achieved their personal bests. Over RM2 million was raised, which will be channelled to support financial literacy programmes for budding entrepreneurs and improve the conditions of underprivileged communities.

28th Tunku Abdul Rahman Lecture

Genting Group Chairman and Chief Executive, YBhg Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, was honoured by the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) with an Emeritus Fellow conferment. On 3 July, about 60 volunteers attended a Nutritional Talk by Nestle at the Staff Theatre, Residential Staff Centre 2, Genting Highlands, organised by the G3 Volunteer Programme. Employees were given free cholesterol tests and healthy product samples.

World Turtle Day at RWK

The Highlands International Boarding School (HIBS) celebrates World Turtle Day at Resorts World Kijal (RWK) with G3 volunteers. A turtle egg planting activity was held at RWK with YBhg Dato’ Sri Kay, VP-Corporate Relations & Communications, Puan Julia Ter, GM-RWK and the HIBS team.

35 G3 volunteers participated in a 1.8km trail walk at Awana BioPark, Genting Highlands on 3 May to better understand the flora and fauna found within the Genting area.
